We spend a lot of time observing people when we are out and about adventuring. One thing we’ve noticed about us Americans is that many of us want to live “life in the fast lane,” speeding down the highway of life. Always searching for the “BBD” (bigger, better deal) in everything. But we’re here to tell you, that way of life just doesn’t work for us and those like us. We’re a special kind of weird; our tribe is small but true!

We prefer life with no lane—the backroad, sidetracked, lost-in-the-woods kind of dirt road life. That’s where the real adventures happen! That’s where the real America lives! Travel the world to see what man has built; travel the states to see what nature has created! We have some of the most spectacular and wonderful natural wonders right here in our very own backyard. So much adventure, so close to home! Not in our cities—the overcrowded, super-saturated mega-metropolises that dominate both the East and West Coasts of this wonderful country we call home. We didn’t choose to be here; we were born here and have become part of the fabric of history that is the United States of America. Get out and get to know the land you live in, and see all the beauty it has to offer.

We spend much of our time exploring dirt roads. Over 50% of the time we travel, we choose the dirt road if it’s available. The road less traveled, adventure unraveled! The places we will go, the things we will see! Adventure lies around every corner on those long back roads and less-traveled dirt paths. Slowly and quietly, we navigate, waiting with bated breath at every turn because you just don’t know what lies ahead. Is it the beginning of a bad B-movie slasher flick? Is it the discovery of a long-lost mine yielding riches beyond your wildest imagination? It could be either, neither, or possibly both! On the long dirt road, one never knows!

Much like the roads we all travel in our lives, we can choose to be in the fast lane on the superhighway, or we can choose the more laid-back, slower-paced dirt roads of destiny. While we neither defame nor defend either style you choose—you do you, and I’ll do me—we do tend to favor the bumblefunk backroads, the no-pavement paths where the true mysteries and adventures live. Given the choice between a dirt road and a paved one with the same destination, we’ll almost always choose the dirt over the tar.
